You are looking at a. 1958 WFL LUDWIG compacto cocktail drum set in blue sparkle. Due to sizes, and distance, if you are on the west coast, or in the south. US 48 only please. It might be rare, or scarce, I’ve never had or seen another. The set is three drums. The 18×20 (20 inch head, 18 deep) WFL bass drum / floor tom, is a prize, one bass drum hoop and one COB rim. The 8×12 is dated February 16, 1959 and has a Ludwig transition badge. The 3×13 is dated November 7, 1958 and has a WFL badge and is faded a bit lighter shade than the other two. Years are from 1958 and 1959. The bass drum has an old calf batter with life still in it, and a new Aquarian American Vintage resonant head. The snare is date stamped November 7, 1958 inside on a mahogany inner ply with maple reinforcement rings. Two new heads, Aquarian American Vintage brush on top, and Remo Ambassador clear on the bottom. The 8×12 is date stamped February 16, 1959 inside on a mahogany inner ply with maple reinforcement rings. Two new heads, Aquarian American vintage brush on top, and Aquarian Classic clear on the bottom. So, It does have new or good heads with a lot of life left. Or, you can set it up with what you want. The set has traveled with 2 cases, that you get, if you want them. One case is 24x24x28 tall and has the bass drum and snare drum. The other case is labeled “A Product of The House of Quality Chicago” hard wood lined. That case holds the 8×12 and a tray with the two L arms and room for other stuff. And it has a space for the WFL snare stand that is also included. Set if up as a cocktail set, or lie it down for a regular bass drum. The chrome is clean, we left any further cleaning to you, or enjoy as is. Two point beer tap strainer works. Original tension rods and washers. The 3×13 piccolo snare drum has a new set of wires that got bent and need to be replaced. The drum set was a one owner set that was traded in to me by a second owner (collector). While I’ve owned this set, it’s been in the cases, and it wants to come out and be heard. Like most used drum sets, t. Here are some nicks, chips and scuffs, and issues from a long life. The chrome is clean, but you can further detail it yourself. We never recommend steel wool, and we never use it. I don’t think this drum set has ever seen steel wool. The parts don’t have those hazy blue-grey scratch lines. At least you should not use steel wool on nice drums either, like these. We left any further cleaning to you. I got these drums pretty much as you see them in the photos. Maybe you can use it? Please ask about condition…. If the photos do not seem to tell the whole story. The photos are part of the description. I have more photos if you need to see something not shown, ask. If you have any more helpful information, Id be happy to post it. These charges are the buyers responsibility. We do not mark merchandise values below value or mark items as gifts – US and International government regulations prohibit such behavior. If I enter 28x24x24 for a box size, that will cost a lot. If I strip the bass drum down to parts, and forget the two cases, maybe it can go. So ask if you want me to check for your country. This item is also for sale locally, so get it while you can. Please check my other auctions. I have more drum items and drums and who knows what yet to list. Ask, or check back.
